Gilded Buckles

This is my studio floor today, it's part of an order for gilded buckles. There are hundreds of them (334 to be precise) and it looks as if any minute a miniture Greek army will come marching in and claim them.

Kirsty's Home Made Home Series 2

Sometime next week I'll be on Channel 4 showing Kirsty Allsopp how to gild glass. Gold Leaf Supplies (click on my profile pic to go to their website) provided all of the materials for the show, and they've got a brilliant gilding kit if you want to try glass gilding yourself. Or contact me for details of individual tuition and classes.

White Gold Billiard Table

And soon this will be gold. Well it already is but I don't have a picture of it put together. It took FOREVER to gild it and the top rail and bases are double gilt. Double gilt is two layers of leaf and it does look very lovely, but not many clients ask for it. Not with gold the price it currently is, but this table had to be perfect.

Gilded Ipads

I've been working for Laban Roomes of Gold Genie fame. He came to me for an artisan finish, and I think they look incredible. It's an exclusive for him, so I can't say how I've done it, but I've combined the best of antique gilding with something new I invented. I've given the gold a soft hand-beaten texture which looks especially lovely next to the paired down perfection of the ipad.

Shooooe

This is such a gorgeous thing I don't need to say a word about it. Rupert Sanderson. A VERY clever man.

Gold Shoes

I LOVE these shoes. They're for Rupert Sanderson and look wonderful. The wedge and pebble are gilded in 23 carat gold. The gold has a subtle crinkle in it that makes it look like a delicate skin. I think Rupert is a brilliant designer and as a friend of mine said when she saw them, well not exactly said, more like screamed; "Ohhhhh heirloom shoes". She's right!
